Sunday: touch up/spot clean all areas, wash mirrors, wash bedding.Saturday: clean any office, laundry, entryways.Friday: wash any remaining floors, wash bathroom towels.Thursday: dust vacuum all remaining living areas.In fact, whether you are a working outside of the home mom, a working inside the home mom, or just someone looking for a game plan to having a clean home, this weekly schedule is just what you need to focus less on what to do and more on the actual cleaning itself. So, here is a schedule that is designed to cover the major areas in most homes each week. If you only have time to clean on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, you can grab tasks to combine from any of the days listed below, knowing that each day’s tasks should take you about an hour. So, even if you have only three days a week to take on these cleaning tasks, you will have an easy way to combine tasks in a way that makes sense, knowing how long each task should take you. But, if you find yourself even too busy on the weekend to take on the bulk of the cleaning, having a cleaning task or two scheduled each day of the week will allow you get all the cleaning done each week, a little at a time.Įach of the following tasks is strategically designed to take an hour each day. It can be so easy to get distracted from the task we set out to do because we notice something else that could or maybe even should be done in our mind. For the purpose of sticking to a cleaning schedule as a working mom, focus on cleaning right now, and cleaning only. If a bunch of clutter is standing in your way, I would suggest putting the clutter aside in a box or bin to take care of at a later time. After following The 6/10 List for a week or so, you’ll find that your home becomes much more manageable and you’ll be able to quickly complete the list.The following list assumes that your house isn’t completely overrun, or that there isn’t a ton of clutter standing in your way of getting these things done. As those get easier, continue adding an item until you’ve mastered a routine for the Daily 6. If you’re new to housework or are already overwhelmed, dedicate 2 or 3 items off of the Daily 6 that you must complete each day. We just need to get done what is most necessary to keep our homes looking nice and running efficiently. Most average households don’t have time to dedicate to cleaning “zones” within their homes. We need the structure that a list can provide, and a simple one at that. When we’re pulled in a million different directions, housework can seem so daunting. I’ve had people tell me it’s great for their ADHD or for single parents or for busy working parents and that’s because one thing we all have in common is a lack of time and focus. ![]() Having a structure, a set list to follow is so helpful. A common problem people face is that when they look around their home they see so many different messes they don’t know where to start. It is in depth enough to keep your home clean, but not so detailed that you get overwhelmed and give up.
